Burton Library Future Events

The next Reading Café takes place on Tuesday 27th November from 10am – 12pm, where we’ll be looking at books with an American theme. Got a book to recommend? Or eager to hear someone else’s favourite? Come along for free books, free tea and coffee, and some great ideas about what to read next.

Our Christmas Craft Fair is back by popular demand, on Saturday 24th November, from 10am – 3pm. Stalls will include all the usual favourites for some great present ideas, and it’s free entry too.

Our Monday Writers’ Group meets in the library every Monday afternoon from 1:15 to 3:30, and welcome anyone over 19 writing in any genre. See their website at www.burtonmondaywriters.co.uk/index.pBurton Library Future Eventshp for more details.

And advance notice of an evening with storyteller Peter Chand, on Thursday 6th December. Peter will showcase Grimms Sheesha, a re-telling of the famous Grimms Fairy Tales (200 years old this year by the way) that we all thought we knew. The event will run from 7:00 – 9:00pm and is free.

Finally, we’re looking forward to January already – the month of Stargazing! Just when all the BBC programmes are on, and everyone looks up into the night sky, we’re hosting a stargazing evening here on Thursday 10th January, where you’ll have a chance to hear a talk by an astronomer, inspect some serious kit, and learn how to spot the constellations up above. We’ll even have our very own planetarium dome in the library for a couple of days. Mark the date now, and watch this space!
