Burton Calendar Girls – also known as the ladies of Little Theatre Company – have been hitting the headlines with their charity calendar in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Latest fan to support their cause is Burton and Uttoxeter MP Andrew Griffiths (pictured with a few of the girls) who bought a calendar which he intends to display throughout 2013 in his office at the House Of Commons.
LTC’s Bethan Waite also met Tim Firth, who wrote the play Calendar Girls, and he’s sent good luck wishes and messages of support to LTC for both calendar sales and their production of the play next March.
The cast of the professional touring version of the show – including Ruth Madoc, Kacey Ainsworth, Lesley Joseph and Sue Holderness – have signed a calendar and a poster that the LTC ladies will raffle off to raise more funds to help the fight against blood cancers in the new year.
For now you can buy a calendar – priced £8 – in the bar before and after EVERY performance of The Sound of Music by Little Theatre Company (Nov 12-17). They will also be on sale at a craft festival in Station Street, Burton, on Saturday November 10 and at the switch-on of Burton’s Christmas lights on Sunday November 18.
