Burton Library Events

October 2012

The next Reading Café takes place on Tuesday 30th October from 10am – 12pm, where we’ll be looking at new books for the autumn. Got a book to recommend? Or eager to hear someone else’s favourite? Come along for free books, free tea and coffee, and some great ideas about what to read next.

October is Black History Month, and we will be celebrating this in Burton by holding an evening of live music and storytelling on Wednesday 10th October. Performing for us will be soul singer Errol Cole, who has been on TV’s The X-Factor, storyteller Peter Chand, and guitarists Basil Allen and Paul Williams. Tickets are £3.00 for adults, £1.50 for concessions and under 16s, including refreshments. The evening kicks off at 7pm and lasts until 9pm.

Our Monday Writers’ Group meets in the library every Monday afternoon from 1:15 to 3:30, and welcome anyone over 19 writing in any genre. See their website at www.burtonmondaywriters.co.uk/index.php for more details

We have a Family History Group that meets on the first Thursday of the month in the library, so the next one is Thursday 4th October from 11am – 12pm.

Our next Library Club, which is a social morning for our more senior members, takes place on Monday 1st October from 9:30am – 12:30pm. Come along for a chat and a cup of tea.

Thanks to Paul Tovell for the info.
