This 1952 novella draws on the years Hemingway spent living in Key West in Florida and fishing in the Gulf. Based on a true story about a Cuban fisherman and his solitary battle with a great marlin, this is the book that resorted Hemingway’s flagging reputation and contributed to his getting the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. Join us for an extraordinary evening of music and storytelling by the great Sam Sweeney who is the violinist from folk super-group Bellowhead. As well as including some staggeringly poignant, beautiful and also stirring world class live music, the show also tells the incredible story of Sam’s violin, which was made in 1915 by Richard Howard who died in 1916 in the First World War.

Sleight of Hand: Association of Contemporary Jewellers Exhibition 2015
The Brewhouse is excited to be the first venue for this year’s exhibition from the Association for Contemporary Jewellery. It’s all about magic: the magic of making, illusions, pulling ideas out of hats and thin air.
Magical, marvellous and mystifying pieces will be on show from 29 jewellers from as far afield as Vienna and Australia, as well as all corners of the UK.
