BMTC – ‘Rehearsal Open Evening’

Voluntary Arts Week (May 15 to May 24) is a celebration of amateur creative activity across the UK. It is an opportunity for anyone to go along and see what goes on during a normal rehearsal at the ‘Rehearsal Open Evening’ to be held on Monday, May 18, from 7.30pm.

It will provide an insight into how the Burton Musical Theatre Company (BMTC), an amateur theatre group, gets ready for performances and all of the hard work that is goes into a show. Some people may never have experienced a rehearsal setting before so this will help any prospective members to see what they do. Being involved in this type of activity is tremendous fun and very fulfilling.

Visitors will also be able to see how and where scenery is constructed because the amateur arts isn’t just about performing. If you have a talent for woodwork, painting or general DIY the company is always looking for assistance.

BMTC is rehearsing for their upcoming concerts at Burton’s Brewhouse arts centre, in Guild Street, on Friday, May 29 and Friday, June 5,  as well as the musical comedy The Producers, their October show.

The open evening will be held at the company’s rehearsal headquarters in Ferry Street, Stapenhill. Although they are happy for people to just turn up it would be useful to have an idea of numbers due to space limitations when rehearsals are in progress. If you would like to be part of the evening please telephone 01283 547750/07975 562191  for further information or visit the website – use the ‘Contact Us’ tab and register by email.
