Open Mic Night – with Sound Stage Project

Back by popular demand, The ‘Soundstage Project’ is proud to announce another live music event.
This is an open mic night for all musicians wanting to perform. Whatever your style, whatever your ability, if you want to perform live to an audience of passionate music fans, get involved. You just have to turn up and put your name down. But it’s first-come-first-served so get there early.
‘Soundstage Project’ is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers with the aim of nurturing local musical talent and creating a social network for musicians in Burton and surrounding areas. If you like the idea of a thriving music scene in your home town, get involved.

Burton Amateur Stage Entertainers presents: Sinbad and his 8th Voyage

After adventures aplenty on his previous 7 voyages, Sinbad returns home for good. But when the Persian Pearl of Peace mysteriously disappears Sinbad must set out on an epic adventure to clear his name – and rescue the Caliph’s daughter – the beautiful Princess Miranda.

Will Evilena and the wicked Old Man of the Sea win the day? Or will Fortuna show Sinbad the way? Come and meet all your favourite panto characters. This show is traditional pantomime fun for the whole family.

The Paper Birds: Broke

This is a heartfelt and urgent look at the debt of a nation from displaced families and gambling addictions to beans on toast and blind leaps of faith onto the property ladder. Based on interviews taken across the UK in 2014, multi award winners The Paper Birds explore what it means to be broke. From ‘feeling the pinch’ to finding yourself penniless, this is a relevant and hugely accessible show from a brilliant contemporary theatre company. Suitable for ages 12+

Jeremy Hardy

Jeremy is something of a comedy institution with recent Radio 4 work including ‘Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation’, ‘The News Quiz’, ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue’ and ‘You’ll Have Had Your Tea’. He has done all kinds of TV most notably, ‘Rory Bremner’, ‘Saturday Live’ and ‘Blackadder Goes Forth’. A kind soul at The Guardian wrote of him, “In an ideal world, Jeremy Hardy would be extremely famous, but an ideal world would leave him without most of his best material.”

Classic Film Club Afternoon

Do like to watch a good film? We do as well. We will be holding a weekly classic film afternoon for members of the ‘Brewhouse Film Club’. We will be screening movie classics from mainstream holiday to art house greats. Films will be chosen from the Film 4 – 100 Must-See Films of the 21st Century. A great watch guaranteed.

Barbara Colbert:


Vigorous,energetic images of animals and the human form. Dynamic and muscular, the dramatic characters are set in a stage of local landscapes, with mythological references. Other inspiration includes flight , feathers and foliage. The medium is charcoal collaged with print, and gold leaf.
