On Friday July 11th at the Brewhouse, Pupils of Coral Gould will be showcasing songs from their year of study. These will range from young beginners to adults and Alisha Khan who was awarded the Burton Mail 11-17 years Performing Arts Award will be singing.
This year we are especially fortunate to welcome past students to perform.
One of them will be Harriet Eyley, from Blackfordby, who has just gained a First Class Honours degree in Music at Royal Academy. She is well known to audiences in Burton, South Derbyshire and Derby. She has already performed professionally with Gresley Male Voice Choir and the Swadlincote Messiah Society. In Burton she has regularly performed at the Christmas Concert. Harriet will return to RAM in the Autumn, where she has gained a scholarship to study for her master’s degree and also join the Opera Preparation Course.
On Wednesday of this week Harriet received her degree at the same ceremony, in which former Marchington opera singer Lucy Crowe who was awarded a Fellowship of the Academy. Lucy trained with Coral Gould before entering RAM as a scholar and has now made debuts at ENO, Covent Garden and the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
Many young students will be involved in this concert from the earliest beginners who are starting on a pathway through grades in both Classical and Musical Theatre Examinations. There will also be performances from local teachers involved in training for professional examinations.
