East Staffordshire Open Exhibition of Arts and Crafts

The East Staffordshire Open Exhibition of Arts and Crafts is coming up soon, so it’s time to get creating! This is an open arts exhibition; entries are welcome from all those who live, work or are educated in East Staffordshire or within a 10 mile radius from the centre of Burton on Trent. All styles and media are welcome.

The exhibition organised by Burton and District Arts Council’s (BADAC) and East Staffs Arts Development Team will be on at The Brewhouse Arts Centre from April 4th to May 10th. Work will need to be dropped off at The Brewhouse between 10am and 3pm on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd March. There is a £4 fee for each piece of work submitted.

This is a great opportunity for people to get their work exhibited in a professional setting. Two of last year’s prize winners, photographers, Robert Joyce and Paul Hodson-Walker have gone on to put on their own exhibitions; these are currently on show at The Brewhouse.

Barbara Wain, winner of the BADAC Award last year, is featured next to her work ‘Highland Cattle’.

The exhibition embraces all the creative work going on in East Staffordshire; it doesn’t matter if people are just starting out, creating art as a pass time or are professional artists; we encourage them to submit work. We’d love to see more people taking part so if they’re creating 2D or 3D artwork, we’d like to hear from them.

As well as getting the opportunity to exhibit and potentially sell work, there is also a selection of prizes to be won; ‘BADAC prize’, Innovation Prize’, ‘3D Prize’. The ‘Young Person’s Award’ sponsored by BADAC is open to young people aged 11 to 16 years. The ‘People’s Choice’ Award is voted for by people visiting the exhibition and awarded at the end of the exhibition.

Burton and District Arts Council (BADAC) is an organisation run by volunteers and was set up to support the arts in the region. As well as putting on the annual exhibition they also run a bursary scheme for young people who have professional arts aspirations and act as an agent for the distribution of ESBC small grant aid to Voluntary Arts Groups.
