Rolleston Choral Society News

It’s nearly 50 years since our first public performance (in May 1964) but until a few weeks ago we had never performed at Rolleston Club. We put that right in October, when around 70 of you came along to join us in the last concert of our “Greatest Hits” tour – a thoroughly tuneful, cheerful and friendly evening. Thanks to Kate Goldsmith and all at the Club for making us so welcome. Earlier in the autumn we had taken the tour to Stapenhill, Newton Solney and Horninglow, and met enthusiastic audiences at all three venues.

We’ve attracted several new members over the past year, and we now number around 50 singers. We’re now busy preparing for our Christmas concerts. On Sunday 8th December, at 2.00 pm we are taking part in the Mayor of East Staffordshire’s Christmas Charity concert at Burton Town Hall, so please come along and support the good causes. Then on Wednesday 18th December, at 7.30 pm we will be staging our own Christmas concert of carols, music and readings at St Mary’s Church, Rolleston-on-Dove. We are pleased to say that once again, we will be joined by children from John of Rolleston Primary School, so it will be an occasion for all the family. We look forward to seeing lots of you there.
