Sweeney Todd

Presented by Little Theatre Company

Little Theatre Company is delighted to bring you Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s musical masterpiece, Sweeney Todd, for the very first time at the Brewhouse. Set in murky Victorian London, the musical depicts Sweeney Todd’s savage quest for justice and retribution after years of false imprisonment. Aided and abetted by the opportunist pie-shop owner, Mrs Lovett, he sets out to avenge the wrongs done to him and his family, providing some fresh ingredients for the pies along the way. Laced with dark humour, dazzling wit and an infectious score, Sondheim’s musical thriller has been hailed as a ‘masterwork’ and ‘wickedly funny’.

Pete Riley, recently returned to his native Liverpool, after spending some ten years touring the States with the iconic American artist, Edwin McCain and with his own band. ‘Treehouse’ before that. More recently he has been writing, recording and producing with a number of international artists, including Edwin McCain, Narada Michael Walden, Maia Sharp, Angie Aparo, Kevin Kinney, Henry Priestman, (The Christians), Deadmono (Sweden) and most recently, with Amy Wadge. Pate has an internationally recognised pedigree, born from gigging since the age of 12!

His band Treehouse was signed by Atlantic the day after they were seen playing by label scouts and Edwin McCain snapped him up as a permanent band member, after Pete opened for him.
