September 9, 2013. BADAC STOP PRESS: article reposted.
BADAC chairman, Geoff Thompson and myself attended the East Staffordshire Borough Council Cabinet meeting at 6.30pm to listen to the presentation of the Brewhouse Tender Submission Report which contained details of the proposal for The QUAD, Derby, to become involved in the future of the Brewhouse arts centre.
Both Geoff and myself were warmly welcomed to the meeting by members of the Cabinet.
The report was presented to the meeting by Mark Rizk, Shared Services (Leisure, Culture and Sport) Manager at East Staffordshire Borough Council and a copy of it can be found listed on the following page:
After the presentation six councillors spoke on the report. All made positive comments with regard to both the future of the Brewhouse and also the need for local groups to continue to use the venue for putting on shows.
It was clear that the work done by both the volunteers and the user groups was appreciated by the meeting.
Following the meeting the BADAC chairman had a discussion with Sal Khan, Head of Service Commissioning, and Mr Rizk with regard to Keith Jeffery the CEO of The QUAD attending the next meeting of BADAC. The chairman asked that they let him know when this is confirmed so that it can be put on the agenda.
Up date Oct 1st
Unfortunately Keith Jeffery has confirmed he is unable to attend the next BADAC Executive meeting on the 23rd Oct.
