If you can’t help humming along to Madama Butterfly in the shower or whistling a bit of Bizet as you walk the dog, why not join Uttoxeter Choral Society for a day and learn to sing some of the most well-known and best loved Opera Choruses?

Singers of all ages and levels of experience are welcome at St. Mary’s Parish Church, Uttoxeter on 8th June to form a scratch choir alongside regular members of the Choral Society. The day will include a workshop with Vocal Coach Louise Crane to help you make the most of your voice and will culminate in an informal performance. Singers will be led by the Choral Society’s talented conductor, Anthony Rose, through a range of popular choruses from Verdi to Wagner. An ability to read music would be an advantage as singers will be working from vocal scores to learn and perform the pieces during the day.

Uttoxeter Choral Society, celebrating its 130th anniversary this season, is one of the oldest societies in the country with a continuous record of making music. Choir member Alexandra Scanlon said, “The choir has such a great atmosphere with members from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds. It’s a great place to meet people and to enjoy singing together as a group.”

Tickets for the day are available from the choir’s website or from the box office on 01283 732858 priced at £15 to include music hire and vocal coaching.

Thanks to Alexandra Scanlon for the info.
