I am a playwright from Burton who has had a modicum of success with two of my plays that I have taken to the Buxton fringe festival in recent years.
I am sure you have read in the local press about young man, Ben Thompson, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer and has been supported throughout by the Teenage Cancer Trust. In order to help this charity continue with their valuable work, I am putting on “Joe” at the Brewhouse on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September with proceeds being donated to them.
“Joe” follows what happens to Shirley (nee Valentine’s) husband when he discovered she’d left him for a Hellenistic idyll.
I am searching for four actors to play :
Joe – mid forties;
Bernadette – the landlady of the local to whom he pours out his woes, about the same age;
Brian – Joe and Shirley’s gay, artistic son early to mid twenties;
Millandra – their forthright daughter, somewhat like her mother used to be in her early twenties.
If any of your members feel that they would like to take part and help me with this worthwhile cause auditions will be at the New Baptist Church, Derby Street, Burton on Trent between 1900-2200 on Thursday 6 June and rehearsals will be on a Thursday evening from 11 July to 19 September.
I can be contacted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by mobile on 07875648562
I look forward to hearing from you in anticipation.
