Our IT Buddies offer a free one-to-one service if you’re struggling to use a computer. Even if there’s just one thing you struggle with, like setting up a junk folder for your email account to get rid of those spam emails, our volunteers can sit with you for up to an hour, going at your pace. Appointments are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with a drop-in session for anyone on Tuesday at 2:00pm.
Our library job club meets from 10:00am – 12:00pm on a Tuesday in the library. With support on-hand to help you fill in the CV, look for a job to go for, prepare for interviews, and pick up some computer skills to do all the above, this is a popular and buzzing club in a mutually supportive environment.
These free sessions for children run twice a week during term time, on a Tuesday 10:15 – 10:45am and on a Friday 11:15 – 11:45am. Great for little ones to enjoy nursery rhymes, singing and bouncing along with everyone!
This happens on a Wednesday morning during term time, from 9:30 – 10:15am. Pre-school toddlers can come and enjoy stories, and then choose some books of their own to take!
Family History Group
For all those budding genealogists, this free group next meets in the library on Thursday 16th May from 11am – 12pm. Come along if you’re getting stuck with your research or you want to know how to begin!
We regularly run 5-week long computer courses through our Adult and Community Learning Service. These run on different days of the week in 2 hour blocks, and happen six times a year. If you’ve never used a computer before and would like to learn, or if you’d like some confidence using your new laptop, then please ask about these FREE courses.
Our creative writing group meets in the library every Monday afternoon from 1:15 to 3:30pm. They welcome anyone over 19 writing in any genre. See their website for more details.
Cafe and Wi-fi
Finally, two things the library always has going on: Firstly our fantastic cafe, Bookuccinos, within the building but fronting onto the Washlands and safe play area outside. And last but not least, the excellent Wi-fi facility, which means you can bring your laptop or smartphone in and connect to our fast Internet network from anywhere in the library for as long as you like, at no cost at all.
Thanks to Paul Tovell for the info.
