”Lilting guitars and starry-eyed singing, much like Pentangle on a diet of Russian phrase books”
An original repertoire of Eastern European contemporary folk songs with Russian lyrics and flavours from Africa, Asia and Latin America; MuHa create melodies that delight, exhilarate, haunt, and inspire.
MuHa is a Nottingham-based multi-cultural contemporary folk band, attracting an ever-growing fan-base.
Their 2010 debut album Taras received critical acclaim and the band continues to fine-tune their unique musical offering through interesting collaborations with other world musicians.
MuHa layer the scintillating sounds of different traditions. The band combines the melodic beauty of Eastern European folklore, North Indian Kathak rhythms, Cuban beats, Western European influences and original lyrics from Hindi to Old Russian and modern Ukrainian. MuHa mesmerise with their very own unique melting pot of culture.
With band members originally from Ukraine, Latvia, Northern Ireland and Russia, Muha’s music reflects the transformation of life between Eastern and Western Europe.
This is multi-cultural Eastern European folk at its very best.
